Last year, I wrote a blog post called "5 Makeup Brands I want to Try" and IT Cosmetics was on the list. I've since gotten my hands on a couple of their items! Today I am reviewing the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty palette, which is a matte eyeshadow palette, and also really underrated in my opinion.
This review post has been a long time coming. The reason being that I'm a blogger failure. I took these photos right after receiving the palette last Spring, and then I did that thing where I saved the photos in a folder, in a folder, in a folder, and basically I totally forgot where I'd put them. And so I didn't write a blog post! Anyway, clearly I've dug them up cause you're looking right at them. Duh.
I got this palette for my birthday, and before I received it, I looked up swatches (as any beauty blogger would do). The photo selection that came up was quite poor. There were not many swatches, and not many photos of the palette that accurately showed the colours. This is a combination of this palette being underrated, and also hard to photograph. The entire inside is so shiny and reflective that it just bounces back light and makes it hard to capture the colours of the shadows. So I'm quite proud of the photos I took because they turned out well.
The outside packaging is a dusty pink felt material, and the inside is a really reflective gold. Some people would probably hate the felt packaging but I personally don't mind.
The shadows are all matte, with the exception of the Transforming Pearl shadow. The concept behind this is that if you ever wanted one of the matte shadows to have some shimmer, you put the Transforming Pearl over it. Personally I never really use the Transforming Pearl shade because I find it washes out the shadow colour. It's a shame because it's kind of a waste of space. I'd prefer having two additional shadows in its place.
Now I know I said that the shadows are matte, but they really have a sort of satiny look to them. It's quite pretty. The shadows are also formulated without talc, and they don't have a dry, powdery texture like usual matte shadows. They are definitely some of the best textured matte shadows I've used as they apply smoothly. And they are pigmented!
My favourite thing about this palette is that no matter how much you put on, it never looks overdone. It's just so easy because the shadows blend so well, they work so well together and also alone. The shade Soft Light is one of my favourite shadows of all time. It's such a perfect, light, minky colour.
This palette is also cruelty-free.
All in all, I highly recommend this palette. Firstly, you can create such a gorgeous, minimal look but still have some colour. And you can also use the deeper colours should you want more drama. Secondly, I love the texture of these matte shadows - there isn't much fallout and they really have a smoothing effect on the eyelid. So this palette is perfect if you are simply looking for an all-matte palette, or if you are mature and want something smoothing and matte.
It is such a gorgeous, underrated palette and I really enjoy using it (hence why I put it in my Best Beauty Bits of 2016 post!)
What is one of your favourite underrated palettes?
