Giving it a Second Chance: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

The first time I tried the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara was last summer. I had been wearing waterproof mascara on the daily, and my lashes became sparse and uncooperative. Needless to say, the Too Faced mascara applied horribly on my lashes - they looked stick straight, no curl, and kind of stumpy. It was so bad I scrapped making a post on it. Since then I've switched to non-waterproof mascara, and been using a lash serum to revert my lashes back to normal. I recently received this mascara in my July TopBox, so I became curious about trying this again with my lashes being better now. So here we are: take two review on the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

Right away, I noticed that the brush was really hard to use without getting any mascara on my lid. However, with two coats, my lashes looked really nice, full and voluminous. My lashes also felt very soft when I touched them - unlike those mascaras that make your lashes feel kinda hard. Ten minutes after applying, I noticed that I had smudging underneath my eyes. As for its ability to hold a curl, when I apply the mascara, it sort of lessens the curl I have in my lashes right away, which I didn't like. However, whatever curl was left, it maintained. I'm a little on the fence about that! Finally, I loved that this mascara is so easy to wash off, with just warm water and cleanser.

Top: Bare, curled lashes Bottom: Two coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Pros:
Soft lashes
Lots of volume
Washes off easily with warm water

Cons:
Big brush is awkward to use
Smudging

I would say that this mascara is better at creating full, voluminous lashes than lengthened lashes. The effect is certainly dramatic, and I love how my lashes look with this, despite the fact that it removes a bit of my curl and smudges a bit. While I don't know if I would buy the full size product, I'm certainly curious to try the waterproof version of this mascara, as you would think it can hold a curl better and rectify the smudging issue!
