The Lash Sensational LUSCIOUS Review and Comparison to Lash Sensational

Maybelline has come out with another Lash Sensational mascara called the Lash Sensational Luscious. The original Lash Sensational was one of the beauty hits of 2015, and was definitely one of my favourite mascaras of all time - so when I saw the Luscious one, I have to say my interest was piqued!

Maybelline Lash Sensational vs Luscious

The Lash Sensational Luscious comes in an identically-shaped packaging, but with opposite colours; the body is matte black and the detailing is pink. The brush is very different to the original Lash Sensational; this one has a plastic "fanning reservoir brush". It's short and spiky, with a hollowed out area between each row of bristle, which is the "reservoir" area I suppose, as it collects product there. One of the claims of the mascara is that "Lashes are left feeling soft and lush, not brittle."

Before going into my review I'll just describe my lashes: medium length, stick straight. Ok now onto the review.

My first impression when trying this mascara is that it is a very wet formula. I applied one coat and it looked good - I tried a second coat and it definitely made my lashes look more clumpy. Don't even try a third coat tho it would be clump town. It held a curl well, but I did get some smudging underneath my left eye three days in a row (I wonder why only my left eye? It could just be my fault and not the mascara's) My eyelashes looked defined and more lengthened than voluminous - but it does give a nice dramatic effect with only two coats. My lashes do not feel particularly "soft and lush" as the packaging claimed - it felt like any other mascara.

COMPARISON

I prefer the original Lash Sensational. The main difference is that its brush is easier to work with and the product is easily buildable past 2 coats without looking clumpy. The Lash Sensational Luscious makes your lashes look more defined but its brush is also less easy to maneuver. That being said, I am still satisfied with the performance of the Lash Sensational Luscious.

I'm curious to see how the mascara applies and wears over time because the formula will inevitably become drier and thus easier to work with - I know that I really liked my original Lash Sensational after a few weeks it was opened. Perhaps I will do an update post in 3 weeks time. Have you tried the Lash Sensational Luscious and what did you think?
