Some recent skincare faves :)
(for reference, my skin is normal-dry, but usually just dry in the winter)
Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré | This moisturizer feels absolutely gorgeous on the skin, and works so well underneath makeup. It is marketed as a moisturizer and a primer, although it is definitely not a traditional primer that helps with pores or longevity. It's simply just really nice under makeup, or even just on its own if you're having a no-makeup day. I've been using this all winter and it's a good one for the cold weather. The consistency is balmy and luxurious, and makes my skin feel plumper. I recently found out that it's no longer sold at Sephora Canada, so wtf Sephora? Ruuude.
Pixi Glow Tonic | Pixi finally came back to Canada. Yay! Obviously, the first thing I wanted to try was the Glow Tonic as I hear everyone talking about this. I got the smaller size which is 100ml just to give it a try and see how I like it. This lil thing cost $23 CAD! Is it just me, or is that expensive for the drugstore? Anyway, I got it and I like it. I do notice a bit more of a glow, and my skin just looks nice and healthy, especially when used with any of the other products in this post.
Clarins HydraQuench Bi-Phase Serum | I got this in the Sephora VIB sale last November and for some reason, I waited until about a month ago to start using it. It's a bi-phase serum, which means you have to shake it to mix the product inside. When it comes out, it has a slight blue tint, and it has a delicate scent. I love the effect this serum has: it instantly makes my skin feel hydrated and smooth and plump. Although there is oil in the formula, which is why it is bi-phase, it does not feel oily on the skin. I tend to use this more in the daytime than at nighttime, as it feels too heavy with my current sleeping mask. But this works amazingly well in the daytime, and I always use it when I know it's a cold and windy day ahead.
Too Cool For School Aqua Gel Mist | I love face mists and I've tried many. Some of them are good, and a lot of them are just expensive floral water. But this one is different from the mists I've tried before. First of all, just by looking at it, you can tell it has a thicker, gel-like consistency. It does not help with the longevity of makeup, but it is really nice as a finishing spray to soften any powdery look from your makeup, and also as a pick-me-up to inject back moisture throughout the day. It's also great to use in between skincare steps.
Now, if I was going all out, I would use all the products here! First, the Glow Tonic. Then the Clarins serum, followed by Embryolisse Lait-Crème. If I was putting on makeup I do that after this moisturizer, then finish off with the Too Cool for School Aqua Gel Mist. Bam.
Have you guys tried any of these products? And let me know if you have a favourite face mist, I love discovering new ones :)
