Earlier this year, I was able to try the LVL lash lift treatment with Nouveau Canada, which I posted about here. If you are not familiar with LVL, it is basically a lash treatment that curls and tints your eyelashes, lasting for a couple of months.
It was such a nice experience, and sadly, my eyelashes have returned to their stick-straight selves. Now I curl my eyelashes every day, and apply several coats of waterproof mascara in order to hold the curl and avoid smudging (my favourite is L'Oréal Lash Paradise!). At the end of the day, I remove my waterproof mascara, but not without a few casualties. This summer, I noticed around 2 or 3 eyelashes coming out whenever I removed my waterproof mascara. Which is sort of alarming because one only has so many eyelashes!
It occurred to me that maybe I was running my eyelashes through the mill, so to speak. Waterproof mascara actually dries out the eyelashes more than regular mascara, and it is also quite difficult to remove, what with all the rubbing and tugging. Which led me to think, I condition my hair every time I wash it, why shouldn't I condition my eyelashes?
The Nouveau Lashes Lash & Brow Conditioning Serum contains castor oil, which is known to be effective at growing and thickening eyelashes, as well as many other nourishing ingredients. I use it as a conditioning treatment for my eyelashes at night, and sometimes I run it through my brows. To be clear, this is not an eyelash growth serum, but over time it should help give a fuller appearance. The product can be used on eyelash extensions and post LVL treatments. Nouveau Canada is also the only vegan & cruelty-free eyelash brand in Canada.
After using this product for nearly 2 months, I have noticed my eyelashes feeling less brittle and I have definitely noticed that eyelashes falling out when removing my makeup is now a rare occurrence. Using a lash conditioner, along with my fave mascara L'Oréal Lash Paradise, has really made my eyelashes look so nice lately! I've never had particularly nice eyelashes, but I've been so happy with how they look and people have commented on them so YAY.
You should use a lash conditioning serum because your eyelashes need nourishment too. They get stronger, which results in less brittleness and eyelashes falling out, and contributing to an overall fuller appearance. You should definitely consider using a lash serum if you frequently use waterproof mascaras like myself, and have noticed the drying effects waterproof mascara can have.
