It's taken me a while to get into the festive spirit this year since I've been quite sick, but since decorating the Christmas tree last week, I've been all about the festive makeup! I've been wearing a variation of these products over the last week to work, to dinner, gift shopping, and drinks.
I'm loving a warm, golden eye for the festive season. I'm not sure why I haven't blogged yet about Colourpop, but I've actually made 3 small orders from them in the past year. I particularly love the eyeshadow Moonshine, which I unfortunately can't find on their website anymore! It's a rich chocolate colour with tonnes of gold shimmer. I find the Colourpop eyeshadow formula to be a little bit inconsistent, but this is a good 'un. It's so soft and mousse-y textured, and it really lasts.
The other eyeshadows I've been reaching for lately are from the Lorac Pro Palette. The shimmer shades in particular are so gorgeous and pigmented, and I've been loving wearing the shimmery warm shades all over my lid, such as Gold and Lt. Bronze. I've also been dipping into Pewter and Garnet to deepen the look for the evening.
I've only been reaching for one thing to put on my cheeks, and it's the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. Since I'm going quite bold and colourful for the lips and the eyes, I don't like to put much on my cheeks. I actually kind of like to use these powders all over my face though - the bronze colour on the right for my cheeks, the highlight in the middle as, well, highlight - and the left shade as a general sort of setting powder. They somehow they just bring the face alive and add dimension.
One of my favourite product discoveries of 2016 is the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour. They aren't that matte, but I love the velvety formula nonetheless. I have the shade HD Love, and it is such a pretty and bright red. This is my festive red of choice because it lasts well, and wears down gracefully into a soft stain.
Another lip product I've been loving recently is a new addition to my collection: Younique Stiff Upper Lip Stain in Savvy, a dark plummy colour. It's a thin, watery lip stain but has a lot of pigment. I'm loving this because I'm usually wary of pairing a dark lip when I also have on a full eyeshadow look. I just don't like to look too made up, or like I'm wearing a lot of makeup. However, with a dark lip stain, it just works so well with eyeshadow - it looks light and modern, but still gives the same impact as any other dark lip. And since it's a stain, I can eat and sip to my heart's content - it ain't goin' anywhere.
