A few days ago, I went to a launch for the new Matrix Biolage R.A.W. products. The R.A.W. products include shampoos, conditioners, and hair masks of mostly natural origin. You can mix and match the different shampoos and conditioners to suit your individual hair needs.
R.A.W. stands for Real, Authentic, Wholesome, which sounds appealing to anyone who probably also likes smoothies (marketing, amirite?). I mean, the bottles even look like smoothies which is cute.
Some details on R.A.W. products:
- Shampoos are 71% natural origin
- Conditioners are 95% natural origin
- Does NOT contain silicones, sulfates, parabens, or artificial colorants
- 99% biodegradable
- Packaging is 100% recycled plastic
The shampoo I got is the Uplift Shampoo. It has sort of a fresh masculine scent and is meant to be used if you want some more body in your hair. It contains black sesame and grapefruit, which is a very random combination. The shampoo is clear, housed in a grey bottle. I believe the shampoo has a slight clarifying effect as my hair looked and felt lighter and more voluminous as soon as it dried.
Paired with that, I got the Nourish Conditioner, which my mom hilariously thought was a bottle of Wafu salad dressing. Unlike the toasty sesame smell of Wafu, this smells like coconut and honey. The Nourish conditioner is meant for for dry, dull hair and it contains coconut oil and kaolin clay. I only use this on the ends of my hair and leave it there for about a minute.
The mix of both scents from the shampoo and conditioner left a lovely salon-esque smell for the next few hours and my hair felt so soft and voluminous. I try to use the product sparingly to make it last longer, and a little goes a long way. After trying these products I can say that, as someone who is generally not concerned about hair, these are very nice and I enjoy using them.
