Cream Eyeshadows for Summertime

When I want to do quick makeup on my eyes, I reach for cream eyeshadows. They don't require the use of a brush and they (usually) have great staying power. That's what makes them especially ideal for summertime and for travelling.

I've been inspired by Lily Pebbles' makeup look she did a while back where she put a pop of colour on her lower lash line. It's an easier way to get into wearing colour on the eyes if the idea of putting a bright colour all over your lid is daunting.

I have two brighter colours: Marykay at Play in Teal Me More, a light teal turquoise-y colour, and Maybelline Color Tattoo in Painted Purple, a bright lavender that appears scary but actually applies quite subtly. These are the colours I usually smudge on the lower lash line.

Some cream eyeshadows that are great for the beach or the swimming pool are the Makeup For ever Aqua Shadows. They are completely waterproof. The ones I have here are Makeup For Ever Aqua Shadow in 28E and 20E, both neutral shades. However, since they are waterproof, you need to work quickly at smudging them before they set, because once they do, they will not budge.

Eyeliner pencils go so well with cream eyeshadows. For everyday wear, I've been simply smudging Trestique in Venetian Gold or the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe all over my lid. I then take a plain black eyeliner pencil, run it along the top of my lash line and smudge that out with a cotton bud. Voilà, a quick eye look with dimension and staying power.
